Building leaders to transform our systems.
For 20 years, we have supported three Regional Groups to develop leaders that aim to advocate for and influence public systems impacting young children and their communities.
We have organized and trained parent volunteers on leadership, advocacy, and how to change policy. These groups built power among those underrepresented in public decision-making and advocate for healthy, safe, and equitable communities for children and families. They focused on the following policy areas: housing stability, equitable representation, quality parks and land use, and immigrant and racial justice.
Learn more about their past campaigns:
Central County Regional Group
Working with the Raise the Roof Coalition, the Central County Regional Group was part of a community campaign to establish rent control and just eviction policies for affordable and stable housing citywide.
The group has also led parent advocacy efforts to improve local parks and street safety.
East County Regional Group
The East County Regional Group worked in partnership with renting families and allies to advocate for safe and affordable housing. Their Antioch CHANGE campaign resulted in the passage of Antioch’s rent stabilization policy.
Read the recent report on the group’s research with more than 1,000 Antioch residents detailing families’ housing challenges and needs.
West County Regional Group
The West County Regional Group has advocated for access to quality parks and safe streets, stable housing, and opportunities for families’ voices in decision-making.
The group’s community research project, assessing the conditions of 25 parks in Richmond, led to an $8 million investment in Boorman Park. Read the Richmond Park report here.
